Recently in the new’s the City of Baltimore and it’s police department have made the headlines. Report’s are that the B.P.D. has taken a back seat in doing their job. Complaints by some officers say that they are scared to do their jobs. And if they do their jobs they may be penalized for their actions. Who didn’t see these types of measures taken by the department surely I did.

For decades the Baltimore police department have been having their way with the neglect and abuse of some of the Cities citizens. Now that the D.O.J. and the nation as a whole have the eagle eye on the department. Some officer’s don’t want to perform the duty that they get paid to do. And that’s to protect & server the people of that city . These actions by the department show’s a clear case of lack of transparency & disregard for the people. The need for checks & balance has shaken them to the core. There can be no more rogue or vigilante actions done by the officers of the city;

The citizens of Baltimore chose to use the Ghanaian Philosophy of Civil disobedience. At the wake of the Freddie Gray case as they now choose not to aid & assist the people that they SWORN to protect. This comes about because six officers made the mistake of misconduct & neglect, even if they did or didn’t have full knowledge of the young man’s condition in the back of that police van in April. Those officers have to won up to their mistakes or actions. Now the rest of their comrade believe that they may fall under the same scrutiny as their counter parts. Rightfully so if they don’t do their jobs correctly as those 6 officers didn’t do. The citizens of Baltimore know that all of the police officers in the city aren’t bad cops. They also know that there officers fall under a system. A faulty system where the actions of a few is not the actions of all. So let’s not make this a tic for tac situation. This is not a high school or middle school rivalry. This is an security issue for the people that live in the city of Baltimore. No security mean rivalry and rivalry lead[‘s to senseless act’s of crime.

During the first five months of the year report’s show that there has been 108 homicides has happen in the past 36 of those homicides has happen in the past 30 days. This is a 15 year high for the city so that show’s a lack of something and that’s a police presence. It seem’s that the Police department are so called trying to teach the citizen that they need tem and they want to teach the people a lesson. If this is the case a resignation for the police commissioner “Mr. Batts” should have been called for like yesterday. How is it that the rank & file officer’s dictate if the yare going to work or not? Something is terrible wrong with this picture. Are the order’s to cease & dissist coming from the top down or is it just the rank & file officers that feel this way. We can’t think for one second that the commissioner feel any different than his underlings. Due to the fact that he showed support for the actions of the B.P.D. six as well as the F.O.P. They have expressed their gripes about not only the lead prosecutor on the case but also the Mayor.

Let’s look at the history of the police department not only in Baltimore but around the Country. When the police (civil servant) was first introduced on a local level it was for the mere purpose of protecting the interest & property of the 1% or the ruling class to keep the poor & disenfranchised away from their wealth. Now as time progress certain crimes became more prevalent sot the commend (civil servant) became the (police officer) as the system evolved. Then saturated the Black Communities of America with the police. So the way they are acting come’s as no surprise. They think that they are the law and also above it.

One Council member of the city stated: That at the break of the Freddie Gray case the city was Shaken i[ ;ole am earth quake/ The city is still dealing with the after shocks. This statement may be the case and one of the after shock’s are the relationship between the police department & the citizens. This is the beginning of more to come.

The police departments of other cities may felt the same way as those of Baltimore. And later this may be a country wide issue just as the killing of black & browns brother’s and sister’s will continue has become a nation wide issue. In Cleveland the D.O.J. probed into the police department and came up with the same conclusion that it came up with in Furgerson and will come up with in Baltimore and many other cities in this country. That the police departments in the poverty section of any state or town. There will be biasness, racial profile and that people of color will be more likely to go to jail for the same crime that white person has done but the outcome is different. And they will receive more time for the same crime as a white person. So at the end of the day will be faced with the same problem else where.

During the riots and unrest of the city the Mayor of Baltimore gave many conferences and meeting’s’s about the I’ll & problems of the city And hasn’t. attempted to yet do anything to correct any of those I’ll and problems that she spoke about; Reports are that she just recently knocked down a bill or proposal for 11 million dollar’s to go toward schools and education but then turn around and delegated funds (35 million to be exact) to build another institution of slavery for the youth of Baltimore. She is running her own school to prison pipeline campaign.

It was asked by a reporter from CNN to the Brother Jay Morrison about the political system of Baltimore and do the people have faith in the local government. And the brother hit the nail right on the head. It’s not a question of faith because these people are still under a system that they follow. A corrupt system that was set in place hundreds of years ago. And I agree these people are apart of that system. And that faulty system runs the order of things and not the mayor or any other politician in Baltimore or any other city or state. It’s up to us the people black, brown allowing the powers that be to control and predict the out comes of our communities. We have to stop relying on the politician’s to empathize or sympathize with us. W have to start producing our won ways. And open up our own institutions of learning in our communities. Use the churches for after school programs. Use the closed down recreation centers. We must do for ourselves because our politicians and now even the police department could careless for the safety of the people of Baltimore.

It’s all a game to them. The police departments must put their feelings to the side and show a sense of professionalism & integrity for their job. In closing I bet if a bank or jewelry store gets robbed they will do their job. Stop penalizing the citizens of the city for exercising their constitutional rights to protest & seek justice.

Rainbow Williams
My name is Rainbow Williams I'm from Balyimore city born and raised. I'm 36years old and I've been incarcerated for quite some time now. I'm into politics and world and social views. One of the reasons for me being active on this website is to give my views and insights that came from my trials and tribulations, which I learned a lot and it has assisted me in Maturing as a Man. I've been in prison for the better part of my life and I've seen the ill wills and the degradation that men go through on a daily basis. It brings me to this, that we as people have to take the time out and give so that our youth and those that don't have a voice are heard to those that can't hear the voice. Society barriers must become open and know/learn of those forgotten voices that have something to say.
