Nike recently decided that for the 30th anniversary of its “Just Do it ” slogan that they would be using NFL Player Kaepernick as one of there representatives. Kaepernick was drop from 49er’s for his activism i.e, refusing to stand for the national anthem. Because of this the NFL player is suing the NFL for colluding to keep him from being hired as a player for any of the franchises teams.
Now that Nike as chosen to give Kaepernick an endorsement deal. There are people protesting Nike by way of burning its brand of shoes and clothing on social media. Seeing this extremely pissed me off. Majority of those who are against Nike and Kaepernick position is based on their belief, that Kaepernicks refusal to stand during the National Anthem makes him un-American.
Disregarding “WHY?” he is refusing to stand during the singing of the National Anthem.
Our National Anthem symbolizes what America has overcome to establish justice, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Our forefathers fought against the British rule and the Aristocrats who were oppressing the lower class citizen of this country based on classism and abuse of power.
Kaepernick is refusing to stand during the National Anthem because our country has forgotten what it represents. Our Nationalism has become no different than the Classism of British rule. American power is abusing its lower class citizens, racially, financially and physically.
Nike is acknowledging Kaepernicks right to protest against injustice… their endorsing the American Ideology of “We the people, who are all created equal” and our First Amendment right. To protest and attempt to black ball Nike for this is SACRILEGIOUS!
It literally violates our constitutions and what our National Anthem defines. Therefore, I felt compelled to write this and tell all of you who truly believe in the American way and it truly means to be American. Don’t allow those who have no real understanding of American history and the principles behind our National Anthem to misguide you.
My support goes out to Nike and I would advice you to support Nike if your against racism, injustice and oppression. Kaepernick is American who has rights…the right to his opinion, the right to stand for what he believes in and the right to expect justice and fairness from our American leaders and those in positions of power.
GO NIKE! BUY NIKE!
