A few week’s ago in Texas an art expose was put on. The art display featured pictures or illustrations of the prophet Muhammad. As this event was underway tow armed men attempted to ambush the gathering. The two men where ambushed by officers and killed in the process. Officials claim that the two men was acting on behalf or loyal to the Islamist group I.S.I.S
The woman that sponsored and hosted the event was a lady by the name of Pamela Geller. Ms. Geller has a profound hatred for Islam & Muslims in general. She was even one of the people in opposition to the Mosque being built down the street from the would trade center’s in New York. This woman has become obsessed with Islam and putting a picture up of the prophet Muhammad. Is this just a practice of the first amendment right of Freedom of speech or is this her way to attack a religions or a people. The 1st amendment was set in place by the men who felt that certain rights of human beings in this country shall be awarded. The amendment was to protect the rights of the American people. Not for a person or person’s to use the first Amendment to disrespect the religion of other’s. A right which was also given by the gentlemen that wrote the constitution the right to practice religion on these soil. No man nor woman shall be able to infringe on the rights of others by using one right to beat down another.
Most people believe that the freedom of speech is a good thing and use it to their benefit to disrespect or offend others. In my opinion there are just some aspect’s of life that should be left alone and the main thing should be religion. One’s religious views should be left to their own especially when it come’s to the attacking of the prophets rather of be Muhammad, Jesus or any other. Religious figure. However according to the Constitution one can say what ever they want to say. And Ms. Geller has really taken that concept too far. For decades there has been many debates about the freedom of speech. And for many decades people have lost their lives pertaining to the topic of freedom of speech. Let’s take for instance years back how the creator’s of the popular cartoons family guy & south park planned on episodes of depicting the Prophet Muhammad in the episode. They immediately dismissed the notion of doing so not because of fear but out of respect fro some one else’s way of life. However there are always those who believe that to take the high road and understand the next human beings feelings into account they feel like they are loosing some sort of fight that’s not theirs in the first place. Look at the Massacre in France at the Charlie Ebdo office where the cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad on the front of the paper took opposition and people lost their lives for something that could have been avoided and the way to avoid it was to not do it at all. In order to please a few they choose to disrespect a population of millions all over the world.
Ms. Geller and her Constituents believe that there is no harm in their actions of trying to put out a picture or illustration of the prophet. And some may agree,. However their are millions of Muslims that feel other wise. Due to the mere fact that if is haram (wrong). According to Islamic law to paint, draw or illustrate the picture of the prophet Muhammad. In any way.  By a Muslim or now Muslim we are seeking of a peoples beloved prophet not just some Joe Shmoe, were talking about a peoples spiritual beliefs. But Ms. Geller seems to believe that she and her people have the right to defend against the sharia law of the Islamic culture. A law that was nothing to do with her so how is it that she feels so offended and why doe’s she want to paint this picture so bad. Her statement on CNN in May, 2015 is that if she gives into not posting a painting or picture of the prophet she would be giving into the Sharia law. And becoming a slave if she doe’s so. No one is trying to impose any Islamic laws on this lady. She live’s here in the United States and probably never plans of leaving this country to travel to any Muslim country. The Sharia is a law that those of the Islamic faith follows to protect one’s self and safeguard one’s religions. However Ms. Geller believes that if applies to her in some shape, way or fashion. She seems to think that her actions are justified by the first amendment and continues to offend other’s and use’s the constitution of the United States to do so. She’ the bully at school who does what she does to get attention. She also believes that the freedom of speech is under violent assault. And that maybe true and the assault is coming from her. And no one else.
People like Ms. Geller uses the freedom of speech as a play ground to disrespect other’s with her offensive ways. One of her defenses is that a former Muslim was the one who drew the picture. Ms. Geller that doesn’t make it right. The actions of you and there’s like you only provokes those who love violence and validate their cause. And all your doing is perpetuating violence and division amongst people. A majority peaceful people. There are many other thing’s in society to draw or throw exposes about other than Prophet Muhammad.
