Jewel of the Week
By Demond A. Jackson
” After you have suffered great losses and known much pain, it is not cowardice to wish to live henceforth with a minimum of suffering. And one form of heroism, about which few if any films will be made, is having the courage to live without bitterness when bitterness is justified, having the strength to persevere when perseverance seems unlikely to be rewarded, having the resolution to find profound meaning in life when it seems the most meaningless.”

Many of my comrades, love one’s and people of every ethnic background have dealt with extreme suffering at the hands of injustice by one means or another. Finding themselves so consumed in their suffering that bitterness and strife has become the one thing that validates their existence. They are masters at understanding their conditions, courage’s and passionate about expressing their distaste, yet are completely ignorant when it comes to finding a solution, peace and purpose in the eye of their storm. I’ve been shot, stabbed, betrayed and dishonored by those I trusted and loved. And without doubt, bitterness is justified. Yet how could I truly be happy? How could I be loved without trust or faith?
God has blessed me to find knowledge and understanding in an environment that breeds… destruction and hate amongst those who share the same oppression some greater than others yet all the same. It is my sincerest wish that you find knowledge understand in the excerpt above let it teach you that courage is the strength to persevere when perseverance seems unlikely to be rewarded.
