My Honors and Recognition goes out to Ricky “Freeway” Ross. After having his life sentence overturned, Rick was released from federal prison in 2009. Since then Rick has not recidivated. He speaks at schools, teaches classes on Economics and is currently mentoring other, about the principle it require be successful the right way.
I first met Rick back in Lompoc in 2000, he was always trying to show guys with the hustler spirit that the game wasn’t the only means to make it in the world. He taught classes on credit, provided tennis lesson and was a positive voice when one needed validation about the value of positive change. We use to build in the cell about the development of his move script, how he envisioned his the sound track and family values. I learned allot from Rick while he was incarcerated, things that would lead me toward the man I am today. I learned the strength of humility, self worth vs. the worth of a principle, a true leader leads by example and he inspired me to write my first movie script. To see Rick succeeding in the world in the manner in which he is doing now makes me proud. It proves that no matter where we come from, what we lack, what mistakes we’ve made or who we use to be. A man is and will always be the true captain of his ship and the deciding factor to whether his ship will sink, crash or find his paradise where all things are possible.
Rick you are a convict, scholar and a gentlemen who is worthy of recognition. I wish you well Loveone keep doing what your doing and God Bless.
Much Love and Respect, Demond A. Jackson
